Accommodation - Bakers' Villas
The Villas at Epping provide retirement homes for people from all over the United Kingdom and accommodate a wide range of ages. They can offer security for more than fifty people associated with the Baking Industry, the common link which encourages the community spirit that is so prevalent.
As one resident commented, "I couldn't believe that I'd known quite a few residents in previous working capacities; it certainly makes for lively conversation!"
The sheltered accommodation represents much more than simply a collection of dwellings for the elderly. A wide range of varied activities is offered, including Games evenings, Weekly Bowls, Darts and Bingo, seasonal parties, plus outings to shows and other places of interest.
The residents can serve on their own Social Committee, and thus play an active role in shaping how the Villas are run. There is a communal lounge with wide screen T.V and a dining room serving a hot lunch 365 days per year. Indeed, the Villas offer a unique blend of the independence of self-contained dwellings with a close-knit family atmosphere.
The Villas also help and support those who are no longer able to maintain their former independence; such residents are more comforted by being able to remain in the familiarity of their own homes in their twilight years. The Villas accommodate couples too, and of course it is important to know your spouse will be cared for in the distressing event of your bereavement.
The attitude of the residents is by no means introspective; there is a strong emphasis on liaison with friends and families, and to encourage this there is a guest-room available to visitors. The Villas are located within easy walking distance of the shops.
The Villas comprise of one and two person flats and bungalows set in spacious, attractive grounds close to the shops, bus service and amenities in Epping. Epping is on the Central line Underground service that is 35 minutes from the West End of London, 15 minutes drive from the M11 and M25 yet it is a town surrounded by pretty Essex countryside and set on the edge of Epping Forest.
